March 21 student records confidentiality event slots maxed out; additional training planned for May 10 in Lexington

Registration for this month’s special KSBA training event on student records confidentiality has maxed out the available space, so the Legal and Administrative Training Services unit has scheduled a second session on May 10 at the Embassy Suites in Lexington.

Online registration is now open for the May 10 session here.

Director Teresa Combs will be joined by an experienced staff member of the KSBA Policy Service for the five-hour, in-depth presentations to cover these subjects:

Provisions in the new Every Student Succeeds Act

Kentucky SB 200 (Juvenile Justice Reform)

Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA)

Kentucky FERPA

The Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act of 1998

The National School Lunch Act of 1994

The Privacy Act of 1974

Court cases and Family Policy Compliance Office (FPCO) opinions.

The fee for the training is $180 per person. Participants earn five hours of EILA credit and board members are eligible for annual professional development hours as well.
