Congratulations to KSBA School Energy Management Project Team for “Sustained Excellence” honor; third straight year work is recognized

Representatives of KSBA were in Washington, D.C. recently to accept an award from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency for the association’s ongoing work to help Kentucky schools cut their energy bills and build greater understanding of energy efficiency.

Executive Director Mike Armstrong and School Energy Management Project (SEMP) Director Ron Willhite (shown left and right respectively) accepted the ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year Sustained Excellence award from Jacob Moss, EPA’s acting deputy director for Climate Protection Partnerships during April 13 ceremonies in Washington, D.C.

It marks the third consecutive year in which the KSBA-SEMP team has been honored for assisting district personnel to create and implement energy management plans and evaluate energy technologies. Team members Willhite, Martha Casher, Jon Nipple and Jim McClanahan also help educate school board members and administrators in implementing best practices at reducing energy costs.

Three Kentucky districts – Bullitt, Kenton and Scott counties– also were honored by the EPA for their energy efficiency efforts..
