KSBA's eMeeting Service tops 100 subscribers and growth coming from much more than just local school board meetings

When KSBA launched its online, paperless meeting service, eMeeting, in 2004, the main target audiences were the state's local boards of education and superintendents. But word of mouth about the convenience and savings in time and money has taken the service far beyond the school board meeting room.

eMeeting attracted its 50th subscriber in 2010. This spring, it passed the 100 mark, with 103 government entities now making use of the service for greater transparency, and ease of use and access. While the largest subscriber group by volume remains local school boards – 82 – eMeeting also counts among its clientele 13 school councils and eight agencies, including the Kentucky Board of Education, the Kentucky High School Athletics Association, a city council, a fiscal court and two municipal utility boards.

Using eMeeting, board members and designated staff may access materials through the secure portal while members of the media and the public can view the meeting schedule, agendas and minutes from the public Web page. eMeeting is accessible/printable anywhere there is Internet access via the client’s own device and also includes an offline agenda feature. In addition, an updated goals tracking function may now be used to connect the superintendent evaluation standards with agenda items and generate reports.

For superintendents and board members interested in learning more about eMeeting, there are several options:

* visit our website at http://www.ksba.org/eMeeting.aspx.

* contact eMeeting coordinators Kim Barker or Garnett Thurman at 800-372-2962 to schedule a presentation at a meeting or work session

* attend the eMeeting seminar – including a live demonstration – at this year's KSBA Summer Leadership Institute in Lexington in July.
