A packed house of local and state education representatives crowded into KSBA’s Frankfort offices on Sept. 21 to thank retiring Associate Executive Director David Baird for his 10 years with the association and several decades in public education leadership.
Baird, Kentucky’s Superintendent of the Year in 2005, spent 17 years leading Eminence Independent Schools before retiring and coming to work at KSBA. He previously taught and coached in the Carroll County Schools.
During his tenure at KSBA, Baird was part of the association’s lobbying team and a trainer specializing in school finance and board/superintendent relations. He was KSBA’s interim executive director for the better part of two years and is a member of the Kentucky School Facilities Construction Commission.
While he will retire from full-time work at KSBA, Baird said that he expects to continue to be associated with KSBA on an as-needed basis in an undetermined role.
