More than 250 preregistered for next week’s statewide conference on school safety; online registration open through June 12

Interest in this year’s Kentucky Safe Schools and Communities conference jumped quite a bit recently, with registration passing the 250 mark last Friday.

The conference, June 15-16 at the Marriott Louisville East hotel, has a packed agenda of training topics from bullying, drugs and gangs to event security, effective alternative schools and school bus technology.

Frank DeAngelis, who was principal at Columbine High school during the infamous April 1999 mass shooting incident, will provide one of the general session addresses. DeAngelis speaks around the country on leadership lessons from the tragedy and managing after the crisis.

The event also will feature exhibits by nearly a dozen commercial vendors with school safety-related services and equipment.

Online registration will be available through this Friday, June 12, here.
