Special education law is constantly changing, and KSBA will provide three days of updates and insights for district special education directors Aug. 26-28 at the Embassy Suites on Newtown Pike in Lexington. This conference provides information that all directors — new and experienced — need to know.
Sessions will cover current court cases, hot topic issues, budgeting, resources, how to survive an IDEA hearing, health services, juvenile justice reform and more. KSBA’s experienced attorneys Teresa Combs and John Fogle will be presenters. KSBA Principal Policy consultant Janet Jeanes will provide a session on board policy, while KDE staff attorney Todd Allen will discuss the agency’s hearing and complaint process.
The conference also includes a session on KSBA Model Special Education Procedures. This session will be helpful to special ed directors and Admissions and Release Committee (ARC) chairpersons.
Those new to their job should be sure to attend the sessions on the first day, which will be particularly helpful to new directors and ARC chairpersons.
