Diversity brings a wide range of viewpoints of any situation, and that’s good for the legal profession, for the pursuit of justice, and for communities throughout the commonwealth and beyond. So as part of its 2017 Diversity Summit, the Kentucky Bar Association is hosting a “pipeline” project for high school juniors and senior who are interested in legal careers.
The pipeline project is seeking young people from diverse backgrounds who want to become lawyers and practice law in Kentucky. On Thursday, April 6, the KBA will host 25 high school students in a pipeline service project in Lexington from noon until 4:30 p.m., with a reception immediately following.
The pipeline project will seek to promote interest among students who belongs to groups typically underrepresented in law school classes, including racial and ethnic minorities and those with varied religious, geographic, socioeconomic, and sexual orientation backgrounds.
The event includes a mock law school class as well as a time to meet with admissions representatives from Kentucky colleges, universities and law schools. Limited scholarships are available for those needing overnight accommodations.
