KSBA produces a variety of general and service-specific publications. These include:
Kentucky School Advocate (articles from current edition) - KSBA's monthly newspaper reports on local school board activities, discusses issues in Kentucky public education, updates the association's business actions and service offerings and many other topics. The Kentucky School Advocate reaches an audience of over 2,700 education leaders and other state and community leaders across the state and nation;
Critical Issues (current edition) - once each quarter, KSBA publishes the following:
At-Risk: timely information on school risk reduction, safety, and liability issues;
On Board with Policy: covers common decisions faced by school boards in the areas of district policy and administrative procedures;
Please Note: reviews of state and federal court rulings and legal challenges which impact, or could affect, school districts;
Special interim editions of the KSBA Reporter are published as-needed, alerting board members and superintendents to issues and pending actions that will impact school districts and programs;
KSBA Legislative Report - during each biennial legislative session, this weekly publication covers specific bills relating to schools and larger issues being debated before the General Assembly.
Review of Special Education Law and Services - a monthly newsletter on court rulings, administrative regulations, training offerings and other topics of interest to school staff involved in compliance with federal and state laws regarding students with special learning exceptions.
Additionally, KSBA provides its members with Community Leadership for Schools. Known as "the Green Book," this manual for new as well as veteran school board members is a resource on the role and responsibilities of board of education members and is provided by KSBA to all board members and superintendents. The 22-chapter book covers broad topics such as the structure of education in Kentucky; the strands of the Kentucky Education Reform Act of 1990; fiscal management, the school food service program, student discipline, pupil transportation, personnel, school councils, curriculum, technology, superintendent and board evaluations and planning.
