Reminder: KSBA Fall Regional Meetings begin, registration required for afternoon clinics in ethics, finance as well as evening session

Road warrior time begins this afternoon and tonight for the KSBA staff as the first of 12 Fall Regional Meetings is on tap with Eastern Kentucky North Region leaders gathering at Morehead State University.

One big change this year is the offering of afternoon (4:30 p.m.) workshops in school finance and board member ethics to help members still in need of hours to meet this year's new state-mandated training. These sessions will be offered at all 12 regional meetings if a sufficient number of board members register in advance.

Registration is handled by the host district of the regional chairperson (list available here http://ksba.org/KSBARegionsbyBoardMembership.aspx). Contact the central office to sign up.

For the after-dinner program, KSBA has created a seminar to assist board members in two areas:

* becoming familiar with a series of new superintendent evaluation tools and processes developed by a statewide advisory task force. By Dec. 31, each board must notify KDE of its intent to adopt either the new state model or to develop its own process starting with the 2015-16 school year.

* the annual requirement for most board members of annual training in superintendent evaluations.

Anyone with questions about the regional meetings may call KSBA and ask for David Baird, Kerri Schelling, or Brad Hughes at 800-372-2962.
