Survey underway to gain board member and superintendent input on KSBA 2014 Legislative Agenda; legislative issues group meets July 12 in Lexington

KSBA has begun the process of defining the association’s legislative priorities for the 2014 biennial budget-writing session of the Kentucky General Assembly. Your opinions matter and now is the time to share them on key legislative issues.

An online survey is now open for your input. It is important because this feedback assists the KSBA Board of Directors in crafting our legislative agenda.  To take the survey, click here:  http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/ksbalegsurvey. Please complete it as soon as possible.

The second step in the process to develop the 2014 agenda will be the return of our Legislative Issues Group meeting. It will meet in Lexington, July 12 on the eve of the KSBA Summer Leadership Institute.

The meeting will be from noon to 4:15 p.m. at the Marriott Griffin Gate and will include lunch and a keynote speaker. Kentucky Lt. Governor Jerry Abramson will discuss comprehensive tax reform and education funding. Abramson served as the chairman of the Governor’s Blue Ribbon Commission on Tax Reform.

After lunch we will discuss hot topics in the education policy area and budget policy and priorities. The meeting will conclude with a facilitated discussion with the Kentucky Education Action Team.  KEAT will lead a panel discussion about current education funding levels and other important funding issues.

Come and interact with fellow school board members and administrators to discuss the upcoming legislative session, and take the opportunity to interact with legislators and other state leaders on important legislative issues.

To reserve your seat, go to  http://www.ksba.org/advocacy.aspx  and download the registration form.  The cost to attend is $75 and includes lunch. Seating is limited.
