Don't forget to get your district's two nominations in for 2015 KSBA First Degree Scholarships; deadline is Nov. 14

Dozens of nominations have been received to date with another month to go in the first step of the process to award $5,000 in the fourth annual KSBA First Degree College Scholarship Program.

Two members of the Class of 2015 (one male, one female) will receive a $2,500 scholarship. But only those students whose districts have completed the necessary paperwork will be eligible. And the deadline is Nov. 14 to get those documents back to KSBA.

Nominated students must be a high school senior intending to go to college whose immediate family members (parents, guardians, siblings) have not earned a college degree. Eligible students must have obtained an ACT reading score of at least 20.

Completed nomination forms must be signed by the superintendent, the board chairman and the nominees’ high school guidance counselor. Information on the First Degree College Scholarship was mailed this week to all board members, superintendents, high school principals and guidance counselors.

Kentucky districts may access the nomination form here http://www.ksba.org/protected/ArticleView.aspx?iid=5PU2Y2&dasi=3G32.

The two recipients will be selected by a blind drawing at the KSBA board’s December meeting and will be announced at the Annual Conference luncheon in Louisville on Feb. 28. KSBA will pay the scholarship directly to students’ college of enrollment upon receipt of letter of acceptance by June 1, 2015.
