Coordinated school health conference set for the end of this month

Submission

The Foundation for a Healthy Kentucky is sponsoring the 2011 Coordinated School Health Institute – Schools and Communities working for Healthier Schools on June 29 at the Marriott Griffin Gate Hotel in Lexington.

Kentucky superintendents, principals, teachers and community partners will highlight how parents, community members and school personnel have worked to establish policies and activities related to how health education is taught; health services are delivered; physical activity is encouraged; nutritious food is grown, prepared and served; and how community partners are helping schools be healthy places for students and staff to learn, work and play.

Everyone interested in the health of Kentucky’s children is invited to attend this event. Special arrangements can be made for school board members. Please contact Joan Buchar [email protected] at the Foundation for a Healthy Kentucky at 502-326-2583 for more information.

Following the June 29 event, on June 30 and July 1 the Kentucky Dietetic Association is sponsoring the Growing Healthy Kids Conference: Creating Healthy, Hunger-Free Communities. Both events will highlight examples of communities coming together for healthier Kentuckians.
