2012 KSBA annual conference theme will mix academics with next year's Olympic Games

Members of KSBA’s annual conference planning committee have chosen the theme for the 2012 event: “College/career readiness: Kentucky’s real 2012 Olympics.”

Kerri Schelling, KSBA’s director of Board Team Development and conference planning, said the committee of local board members and KSBA board members went for a theme that achieved two purposes.

“So much of KSBA’s board member training this year and next are focused on the board’s role in Senate Bill 1 implementation and preparing students for the skills needed for success in postsecondary education and in the workplace,” Schelling said, “so the college and career readiness idea really bubbled to the surface.

“And since the college and career readiness work is going to be a long-term effort, several committee members gravitated to a theme specific to 2012, and of course, the Olympics will be on people’s minds around the world,” she said.

Both images also provide a broad array of visual designs for Kentucky students who will be creating the colorful banners that are always popular at KSBA annual conferences. Instructions on banner production will go to all school districts this fall.

The 76th KSBA annual conference will be Feb. 3-5 at the Galt House Hotels and Suites in Louisville.
