Five Kentucky presentations to be part of NSBA's national conference in San Francisco

The 71st annual National School Boards Association (NSBA) conference opens this coming Friday in San Francisco and Kentucky education experiences again will be part of the learning for the estimated 8,000 to 10,000 participants.

Here is the Kentucky presenter lineup, including times and locations for those who will be in attendance:

Friday, April 8

Kerri Schelling, KSBA Director of Board Team Development, New Board Member Boot Camp, 1:30 – 4:30 p.m., Moscone Rooms 123-124

Saturday, April 9

Boone County school board member Bonnie Rickhert and Assistant Superintendent Karen Cheser, clinic on curriculum, standards and college/career readiness, 3:45 p.m. – 5 p.m. Moscone Room 301

Mason County Schools Assistant Superintendents Kelly Middleton and Elizabeth Pettit, clinic on food services, student input and school climate, 3:45 – 5 p.m., Moscone Room 132

Sunday, April 10


Johnson County Schools’ administrators Kayla McCarty and Misty Cox, clinic on high-poverty, high-performing schools, 1:30 – 3:30 p.m., Moscone Rooms 250-262

Monday, April 11

Union County Schools Superintendent Josh Powell, clinic on turnaround school districts, 9:45 – 11 a.m., Moscone Room 132

Additionally, KSBA President Tom Blankenship of Lincoln County and President elect Durward Narramore of Jenkins Independent will represent the state on Friday as members of the NSBA Delegate Assembly. Paducah Independent board member Dr. Felix Akojie Jr. will serve as a sergeant-at-arms throughout the assembly.

On Saturday, representatives of the Carlisle County Schools will be honored with presentation of their First Place Magna Award during a luncheon sponsored by the Americal School Boards Journal, the NSBA magazine.

The annual KSBA Kentucky Reception will be Sunday, April 10 at 5 p.m. at the San Francisco Marriott Golden Gate B room.
