The Kentucky NEED (National Energy Education Development) Project has set its annual workshop on high-performance sustainable schools for March 10-11 at the Kentucky Community and Technical College System campus in Versailles.
School decision-makers, architects and engineers with plans for new school construction and/or renovation projects are encouraged to attend this two-day workshop.
Attendees will tour two high- performance schools, learn strategies from educators and design professionals with documented successes, and attend a catered exhibitor reception featuring high-performance technologies. Presentations will offer case studies and methods for both educators and designers that substantiate the financial savings and learner benefits of high-performance buildings.
Attendees will:

2. Learn how one district worked with its architect to create an early college and career center with a design that helps students accelerate their career path, whether to college or the workforce.
3. Tour the first school scheduled to be certified as a LEED Existing Building.
4. Tour a high-performance elementary school that continues to lower its energy consumption through high-performance operations.
5. Hear how teachers utilize their school buildings to teach math, science and other disciplines.
6. Talk with other administrators and design professionals.
