Last year, new Kentucky Board of Education regulations governing school board member training took effect, mandating not only specified number of training hours, but also training in three specific topics – superintendent evaluation, finance and ethics. Throughout 2014, KSBA provided a variety of opportunities for board member training hours including conferences, regional meetings, local in-district workshops and self-study materials. Also in 2014, KSBA piloted regional training sessions through the Western Kentucky Educational Cooperative and Northern Kentucky Cooperative for Educational Services.
For 2015, KSBA has partnered with all eight of the regional educational cooperatives to offer board member training sessions regionally twice a year. The dates and locations for these regional training sessions through the education cooperatives are:

KSBA will build an agenda to meet the needs of the group (start times, number and order of sessions, etc.) and handle the registration process. There will be a $40 fee for each session to offset the cost of the trainers, travel expenses, materials and handouts. Participants will have the option to attend all sessions or only the session(s) they need.
