Videos created to help explain Kentucky’s new academic standards; KSBA panel video uploaded

KDE has developed resources to help explain the new assessment and accountability model. A Web page, Unbridled Learning: College/Career Readiness for All, is accessible here http://www.education.ky.gov/KDE/Administrative+Resources/Commissioner+of+Education/Unbridled+Learning/.

               Education Commissioner Terry Holliday explains the new accountability model in a videotaped presentation that may be accessed at mms://video1.education.ky.gov/Accountability_4-12-2012.

               Also posted on the Web page are two brochures – one on assessment, another on accountability – aimed at parents, but also intended for a general audience. Those brochures are posted near the bottom of the page, in two formats, a printable brochure layout and a text version.

From Kentucky Chamber of Commerce

The Kentucky Chamber of Commerce has produced a new video on the importance of the new Common Core State Standards that can be found at the following link in the lower left corner of the page:

The video emphasizes the role of the business community in supporting the new standards and why these are so important in ensuring that Kentucky’s students are college- and career-ready.  It may be used with community leaders and others as we prepare for the new test scores to come out this fall.

KSBA has received several requests for copies of the 2012 annual conference panel discussion featuring human resources professionals from major Kentucky businesses, who talked about college and career readiness issues and needs of the state’s largest employers.
