Warming up board member brain power
The hallways of Louisville’s Downtown Marriott Hotel were buzzing on a cold December weekend as more than 150 school board members and superintendents picked up ideas and credit hours during KSBA’s annual Winter Symposium.

Simpson County Board of Education member Greg Coker woke up attendees with a Saturday morning general session on productivity and success through “Building Cathedrals: The Power of Purpose.” This year’s conference was co-sponsored by the Kentucky School Plant Management Association in a new partnership with KSBA.

Becky Burgett, a member of the Gallatin County Board of Education and a KSBA training consultant, led a workshop on quality board/superintendent relations. The Winter Symposium enabled a number of local board members to complete their state-mandated annual professional development hours.
