2021 KSBA Annual Conference

(UPDATE 4.8.2021)

KSBA will host its 2021 Annual Conference Friday, May 14 – Sunday, May 16 (new dates) at the Kentucky International Convention Center in Louisville for a weekend packed with informative sessions, inspiring keynote speakers and ample opportunity for networking. KSBA's annual conferences regularly draw approximately 1,000 board member, superintendents and other education leaders, making it one of the largest state gatherings of public education stakeholders. The 2021 conference theme is "Kentucky School Boards: Champions for Education."

This page contains information on the following topics:
  • conference schedule
  • attendee registration (offered online and as a downloadable form)
  • hotel information (special conference rates may apply)
  • KOSAA Winter Meeting registration
  • student banner art submissions
  • student involvement/performance opportunities
  • contact information

How do I register for the conference?

Registration is now open for conference attendees. Attendees may access easy online registration via the “Register Now” button below or you may download a printable registration form for submission via email, mail or fax.

Note: The online registration link above is for attendees only (such as board members, superintendents, etc). It does not include exhibitor/tradeshow registration. Online registration for exhibitors, including answers to frequently asked questions, may be accessed here

Questions or concerns regarding exhibitor registration can be directed to Matt McCarty

Will there be an option to attend virtually?
There will not be a virtual option for the annual conference. Due to technology and streaming services costs, it is too cost prohibitive for KSBA to offer both options. We understand that some may not feel comfortable attending an in person conference and we are sorry we are unable to offer the virtual option. We will offer several other options for members to obtain their training hours including the monthly webinar Learn and Earn series and the summer and winter conferences.

What steps do I need to take if I made hotel accommodations prior to the dates being changes to May 14-16?
For those who made hotel accommodations at the conference host hotels prior to the conference dates being changed to May 14-16, your reservations will automatically be rolled over and honored on the new dates at the special conference rate. KSBA recommends contacting the hotels by phone if you will need to change/cancel your reservation.

How can I make hotel accommodations for the new conference dates (May 14-16)?
Special room rates are available for conference attendees at the following hotels. Hotels are conveniently located next to the convention center, in some cases even connected by pedestrian walkway or parking garage. (Note: Special rate room blocks expire on Friday, April 30. Make reservations now!)

2021 student banner artwork will be digital
District involvement is at the heart of what makes KSBA events a success. KSBA once again invites school districts to design banners for display at the Annual Conference. The banners are a very important contribution to the conference, reminding attendees why we have gathered.

Banners, however, are going to be a bit different this year as we are requesting all artwork be digital. Rather than mailing in a canvas banner, we are asking districts to submit a digital version that can be used in our conference communications, displayed around the convention center, included in the app, and in a variety of other ways. Ideally, banners will be produced as part of your students’ learning activities.

Click here to download banner information, complete with instructions, criteria and art specifications. Banner artwork must be submitted electronically no later than March 31, 2021. KSBA cannot guarantee inclusion of banner art that is submitted after the deadline and/or does not meet criteria.

Call for student involvement at annual conference
Student performers are featured throughout the conference, most often at the start of general sessions. Districts may download a student involvement proposal form and submit for consideration. All submissions must be received by April 1.

For conference trade show exhibitors: If your company/organization wishes to participate in the 2021 Annual Conference as an exhibitor, you may contact Matt McCarty for more information.

If you have any questions about this conference or any of KSBA's training events, please contact KSBA Director of Board Team Development Laura Cole at 800-372-2962 ext. 1122.

Safety is our top priority
KSBA is working closely with the conference site to ensure a safe event for all in attendance. Measures will be taken to offer an experience in adherence to evolving state and federal public health guidelines. Attendees will be encouraged to do their part to protect themselves and fellow guests from the spread of COVID-19.
