Debbie Hammers, Director-at-large

Debbie Hammers is a Butler County school board member

Please share why you decided to run for your local school board.
I had served on the middle school and high school site based councils while my son was in school.  I always was eager to know what was going on in my son's schools.  So I was approached by a long time educator who said you need to run for school board we need people like you!  So I ran because I care about kids and the policies that govern them.  Its a great way to serve your community.

What is your favorite thing about serving on your local board?
Being a part of everything going on.  In the know and of course the opportunity it affords me to meet all kinds of special folks.

What activities do you enjoy doing outside your board work?
Attending anything sports related!  I'm a huge KY Wildcats fan, I love football, baseball and soccer!  I like to fish sometimes!  Love spending time with my grands.

Name someone in your life you admire, or who inspired or helped you along the way.
I had wonderful people in and out of my life.  I had a high school teacher Mr. Forsythe whom I loved for biology and anatomy, these were my best classes!  He was so supportive and encouraged me that I could do anything I put my mine too!

Name a book/magazine/website/publication/etc. that you would recommend to other school board members
"The Precious Present"

Please share something about yourself that most people may not know.
I have been to Switzerland, Germany and Italy!  I saw Cher in person.  I love to cook.
