Richard Kazsuk, Director-at-large

Richard Kazsuk is a Russell County school board member.

Please share why you decided to run for your local school board.
I worked in education for over 31 years as a teacher, consultant and a principal, and wanted to continue to stay involved in the education of our children. I thought with my educational knowledge and experiences I could help our school board to make the best decisions in educating and safety of the students in our district.

What is your favorite thing about serving on your local board?
My favorite thing about serving on my local board would be being able to provide the students of our district with the best educational facilities and learning opportunities with the funding we have available.

What activities do you enjoy doing outside your board work?
Outside of my board work I enjoy raising beef cattle, fishing, deer hunting and boating.

Name someone in your life you admire, or who inspired or helped you along the way.
Frank Kincaid was the Principal at Lee Co. Area Technology Center when I began teaching there in 1991. His leadership qualities inspired me to continue my education to complete my master's degree and become a principal.

Name a book/magazine/website/publication/etc. that you would recommend to other school board members.
Kentucky School Advocate

Please share something about yourself that most people may not know.
I ran a 5K marathon on my 50th birthday and I have met Dolly Parton in person in 1983.
