Regional meetings come to a close

Regional meetings come to a close

Kentucky School Advocate
November 2024

After 12 meetings crisscrossing the state, the 2024 KSBA Regional Meetings have come to close. The most recent leg of the Regional meetings tour wrapped up on Nov. 4 in Elliott County for the Eastern Ky North region, after stops in Inez (Eastern Ky. South region), Franklin (Third region), Brandenburg (Fourth region) and Barbourville (Upper Cumberland region).

Regional meetings are a KSBA tradition that began in 1936 as a way to allow board teams to network with colleagues, KSBA staff and other education leaders closer to home. They also have played an important role in gauging concerns of members ahead of legislative sessions. Most of this year’s meetings focused heavily on Amendment 2, from legislative history and legal analysis to key terminology and public perceptions. Board members also received association updates and a breakdown of changes to state-mandated school board training requirements.

KSBA thanks the regional directors and districts who hosted this year’s meetings, along with countless district staff who helped facilitate the events and students who showcased their many talents for meeting participants. The association is also grateful to everyone who attended a meeting, including administrators, board members, affiliates, legislators and Kentucky Board of Education members.
