Burgin Independent Schools
The Burgin Independent Schools board has hired Chris LeMonds as the district’s next superintendent.

LeMonds has served as principal of Burgin Independent School for 11 years. Before joining Burgin Independent in 2014, he spent 12 years at Boyle County High School, where he served as assistant principal, athletic director, teacher and coach.

LeMonds will begin his new role on July 1, following the retirement of Superintendent Will Begley.

“This district holds a special place in my heart, and I am committed to building on the strong foundation established by Mr. Begley and previous leadership before him,” LeMonds said. “Together, we will continue to provide an exceptional education for our students while embracing the unique advantages of our small-school setting."

In a statement from the district, the board thanked Begley for his service and said it looks forward to working with LeMonds.

Begley said it had been a privilege to serve the district and congratulated LeMonds on his appointment.

"I have no doubt that Mr. LeMonds will lead the district to even greater heights,” he said.

Floyd County Schools
The Floyd County Board of Education has selected Tonya Williams as the district’s next superintendent.

Williams worked for the district for 28 years before retiring in 2019. She served as teacher, guidance counselor, principal and chief academic officer.

“I want to thank the Floyd County Board of Education for entrusting me with this incredible opportunity to be the next superintendent of Floyd County Schools,” Williams said.

Williams said she plans to focus on “fostering excellence in education and ensuring that every student has the tools they need to succeed in life.”

Williams began her position on Jan. 31. Her contract runs through 2027 with the option for a one-year extension at the board's discretion.

“I want to have open communication, and be accessible to all stakeholders,” she said. “Together, we will continue to provide students with exceptional opportunities to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.”

• Berea Independent Schools: Diane Hatchett
