New KSBA directors on board

Four new directors-at-large on KSBA’s Board of Directors were chosen during the business session at the association’s annual conference, March 2–4 in Louisville. The four had been recommended by a nominating committee. They are:

Joe Brown
Brown has three decades of service on the Garrard County Board of Education, including the past 16 years as chairman. This is his second term as a director-at-large. Brown also has served on two KSBA committees. He is a retired bank loan officer, business owner and a colonel in the U.S. Army Reserves.

Karen Byrd
Byrd has been a member of the Boone County school board for 23 years, currently serving as vice chair, though she has chaired the panel five terms in the past. Byrd, a customer relationship advocate, most recently served a term as a KSBA regional chairperson and has served on a KSBA committee.

Rhonda Hardy
Hardy has a year of service on the Estill County Board of Education, holding the position of chairperson during that time. She is a former supply chain operations team manager.

Venita Murphy
Murphy, a five-year member of the Webster County school board, has three years of service as a regional chairperson on KSBA’s board, as well as serving on two of its committees. Murphy is an NDE operator at GE Aviation.
