Missouri association seeks help for school district devastated by tornadoes

From the Missouri School Boards Association (MSBA)

As you know, the Joplin, Missouri school district is in dire straits following the May 22 tornadoes that devastated much of Joplin.

It is estimated that 30 percent of Joplin was damaged or destroyed by the tornado that struck the community of 50,000 residents. The Joplin School District sustained catastrophic damage to at least 10 of the district’s buildings, including destruction of the district’s only high school and central office building. Approximately 60 percent of the district’s 7,747 students may have been displaced by the storm.

To assist our friends in the Joplin School District in their recovery efforts, the Missouri School Boards’ Association’s 501©(3) foundation, FutureBuilders, is receiving monetary donations for the district. MSBA is encouraging donations from individual board members, school employees and friends of education who desire to assist the Joplin School District.

Monetary contributions can be sent to MSBA FutureBuilders, Joplin Assistance Challenge Fund at 2100 I-70 Drive S.W., Columbia, MO 65203.

Contributions are tax deductible. 100 percent of the donations will be sent to the Joplin School District.
