Congrats to Top 10 Kentucky schools for improved energy efficiency; 2018 Battle of the School Buildings process underway
Kentucky’s Battle of the School Buildings competition was announced in October 2015, designed to give recognition to schools for succeeding with energy efficiency efforts. A total of 131 schools across
Kentucky joined the competition and 45 of those schools were successful in reducing energy consumption in calendar year 2016, compared with calendar year 2015.
The 2017 winner of the competition was Southside Elementary School in Woodford County, with a 24.68 percent reduction. Two other schools were recognized as first and second runners-up, as they reduced energy consumption by 20 percent or more. Those two were Bourbon Central Elementary, with a 24.51 percent reduction, and Northside Elementary (Woodford), with a 22.73 percent reduction.
