Student success the focus of #KyGives23

KSBA scholarships and grants recipients

Staff report

More Kentucky students than ever are receiving financial aid from KSBA and the KSBA Educational Foundation towards promising careers and postsecondary pathways, a source of pride for the association and its members. That is because supporting student success has always been at the heart of board service.

When KSBA launched its First Degree College Scholarship program 12 years ago, two high school seniors were awarded with college scholarships. These seniors were to be the first in their immediate families to complete postsecondary degree programs. This year, we awarded a record five scholarships! In the past two years alone, KSBA and the foundation have also awarded 100 Kentucky high school students with CTE Student Grants to support them in achieving industry certifications in a long list of professional pathways. These grants offset costs for assessment fees, textbooks, technology, supplies and even travel expenses.

Like you, KSBA believes that cost should not prevent our students, the next generation of Kentuckians, from achieving their dreams.

It is because of your generosity these past years that we were able to do more to directly empower students. We are forever grateful to our members and friends for partnering with us to take these student aid opportunities to the next level. It is a testament to your belief in the important mission of the KSBA Educational Foundation.

But we have not yet declared victory. We are not claiming “mission accomplished.” Instead, we want to continue growing our student scholarship and grant opportunities, so that even more Kentucky high school students get the support they need to take on whatever comes next.

KSBA will once again participate in Kentucky Gives Day this year on Tuesday, May 9. We challenge you to consider a meaningful gift to the KSBA Educational Foundation on this day. One hundred percent of your contribution will go to our student scholarship and grant programs.

Visit ksbaef.org/give or scan the QR code to be directed to our Kentucky Gives Day page to easily make your online gift. Between now and May 10, you can also mail a check made payable to the KSBA Educational Foundation to KSBA, 260 Democrat Drive, Frankfort, KY 40601.

Thank you for supporting student success through the KSBA Educational Foundation!
