Students are the reason board members serve – and the CTE Student Showcase at KSBA’s Annual Conference gives board members a chance to see student learning in action.

Students from 20 school districts demonstrated 27 career and technical education pathways during the conference where board members could engage with student representatives of each featured CTE program, complete with displays and demos. Students were also recognized on stage during the conference’s opening session.

The 2023-24 CTE Showcase was offered in conjunction with the Kentucky Department of Education’s celebration of CTE Month, a time when schools and education organizations are encouraged to highlight the value of career and technical education and the achievements of Kentucky’s CTE programs.

During the conference, KSBA also acknowledged its 2024 Career and Technical Education (CTE) Student Grant recipients. A total of 42 high school students from across Kentucky were each awarded grants to help offset costs associated with the completion of industry certification.

“These are students who will ultimately graduate high school with career certifications, some directly entering the work force, others pursuing postsecondary education,” KSBA Executive Director Kerri Schelling said.
