KSBA’s 12 regional chairs will once again host regional meetings this fall for association members, district staff and local community leaders. KSBA's tour of the state allows members to gather closer to home while still enjoying the benefits of relevant in-person board training. Dinner is provided for a fee to registered attendees prior to the main program. Invitations and instructions for your respective regional meeting will be distributed by your Regional Chair in the weeks prior to your assigned meeting.

For our 2022 Fall Regional Meetings, KSBA welcomes colleagues from the Office of the State School Security Marshal (OSSSM) to explain their mission and the supports available to Kentucky districts in maintaining compliance with state regulations and best practices. School safety remains a focus of districts across the country. Following the tragedy in Uvalde, Texas, leaders at the local and state levels are assessing every aspect of their plans, procedures, training, facility security, mental health, the roles of law enforcement, etc.

This interactive program will include a brief presentation and roundtable discussions facilitated by KSBA and OSSSM staff, focusing on the important role of school board teams. As with previous regional meetings, insights shared by members will directly inform future KSBA resources, advocacy and trainings.

Six KSBA regional chairs to be elected this fall

Coinciding with this year’s slate of regional meetings, six of KSBA’s 12 regions will conduct elections for new Regional Chairs. Regional Chairs are in a unique position to serve as liaisons for KSBA’s regional meetings while contributing as members of the association’s board of directors. Regional chair nomination information will be provided to all school board members within regions where elections are to be held.

The three year-term for regional chairs elected this fall will begin on Jan. 1, 2023.
