Staff report

This year marked the third time the KSBA Educational Foundation took part in Kentucky Gives Day, a statewide 24-hour online giving initiative of the Kentucky Nonprofit Network (KNN). Once again, 100% of the proceeds from the campaign went to support KSBA’s First Degree College Scholarship Program and Career and Technical Education (CTE) grants for Kentucky high school students. Through the generous contributions of members, partners, staff, association alumni and friends, KSBA raised $5,400.

KSBA’s participation in the day of giving coincided with an ambitious expansion of its student aid programs. In the last two years alone, KSBA has awarded nine Kentucky high school seniors with college scholarships and 100 high school students with CTE grants. That is quite a jump from 10 years ago, when KSBA awarded two college scholarships each year.

During its 11th year, a total of 232 nonprofit organizations participated in Kentucky Gives Day, many of them KNN members, resulting in more than $832,759 raised. Causes ranged from animal shelters and environmental conservation groups to human service agencies and food pantries. Organizations officially began collecting contributions online May 1.

While #KyGives23 has come and gone, the KSBA Educational Foundation accepts gifts for KSBA’s student scholarship and grant programs all year long. Visit ksbaef.org to make a gift online or mail a check payable to the “KSBA Educational Foundation” to 260 Democrat Drive, Frankfort, KY 40601.
